Yes! I believe this is the crux- humanity has some sort of built in reptilian brain need to win, to conquer. (Thus we love to watch GOT) In healthy humans it is tempered by the frontal lobe- compassion, empathy, respect for life etc. In these Winner Take All businessmen, the game is never over. They always want more. Money is just a marker for the game. The death and destruction in their wake is less than a calculated risk, as most countries don't even penalize them for it.

War is the same game, just played with people and guns instead of people and money.

It is up to society as a whole to recognize that this is sick. You don't get to keep the land you killed everyone on it to get. You don't get to keep the money you made by poisoning people and destroying land and lives.
